Fine Arts Program Marian High School provides instruction in music (instrumental and vocal), art, dance, and drama. Several of these areas offer a four-year academic program of study. Click here for the student-sponsored website.
The vocal music program: Students perform solos and/or ensemble work locally, statewide and nationally.
The instrumental music program provides opportunities for students to participate in both large and small ensembles. During the year instrumentalists perform in regularly scheduled concerts and recitals as well as liturgies and special events. Private and class instruction is available for both beginning and advanced students. The vocal and instrumental instructors have an average of 35 years teaching experience in their area of expertise.
The dance program includes ballet and tap classes for the beginner and the intermediate student. Dance demonstrations are held at the end of each semester and these students often participate in the fall musical productions. In addition, more advanced students have the opportunity to choreograph their own piece.
Drama and theatre classes are also taught at Marian. Students learn dramatic experience is a very human activity—one that reaffirms “I exist. My life has meaning.”
Visual Arts: There are 10 sememsters of instruction available. Advanced classes are given for honors credit. Each year Marian students are recognized for their artistic talents in local and national competitions and their work has been displayed in New York, Washington, D.C. and Nebraska. The visual arts faculty has over 30 years of combined art teaching experience. Fine Arts Department: Cathy Pruitte, Jennifer Christen, Michelle Delisi, Rachel Jank, Kathy McPherson and Veronica Rief.
