What is the Annual Fund?

Each fiscal year (from June to June) Marian conducts an annual fundraising effort to secure the monies necessary to ensure that Marian High School remains the premier all-girls, Catholic high school in Nebraska.  The funds raised through this drive make up Marian's Annual Fund, which is used to underwrite the annual operating expences.

This year's Annual Fund theme is:
The Power of YOU.

Did you know the cost of educating each Marian girl exceeds the amount of tuition?  The gift YOU make to the Annual Fund will bridge the gap between the cost of a Marian education and the cost of tuition.  In addition, your gift allows Marian to provide tuition assistance to more than 48% of our student body, totaling over $450,000 annually.

Marian is challenging YOU to find the power within and make a difference to the current and future girls of Marian by participating in the 2008-2009 Annual Fund.

  • The gift YOU make supports Marian’s 30-plus clubs and student activities that empower our young women to think for themselves.  In 2008, Marian’s Social Justice Club initiated a three-tiered plan to make Marian’s campus free of sweatshop produced materials by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
  • The gift YOU make helps Marian remain the most outstanding all-girls high school in the Midwest.  In 2008, $8.2 million in scholarship money was awarded to Marian’s 153 graduates, all of whom went on to continue their education at public and private colleges and universities across the nation.
  • The gift YOU make sustains Marian’s Fine Arts Program, where students inspire others through their performances and work.  Year after year, Marian’s vocal and instrumental music program receives Superior rankings on a local, regional and national level.
  • The gift YOU make provides upgrades to Marian’s athletic equipment and facilities, allowing Marian girls to excel in their respective sports. Marian’s athletic teams have earned 16 state titles in the last five years.
  • The gift YOU make provides funding for educational trips, where students learn the impact they have on the world.  For the last three summers, Marian has sponsored a ten-day immersion trip to the Dominican Republic in conjunction with Creighton University’s Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) Program.  The focus of the program is to encourage participants to develop a heightened awareness of the ethical and moral issues that confront third world countries.

PARTCIPATION IN THE ANNUAL FUND

Why is participation so important?

Participation is fundamental in ensuring a solid financial future for Marian High School. A high percentage of giving by those closest to the school—the parents, alumnae, grandparents, parents of alumnae, faculty and staff—demonstrates the importance of philanthropy at Marian. Also, strong participation of the Annual Fund often positively influences contributions from foundations and corporations.

Why You Should Give to Marian's Annual Fund

Marian High School gives a spectacular gift to their young women. It gives
them the gift of themselves. Through academic achievement, significant and
lasting friendships and the discovery of their own talents, Marian High
School helps young women discover hidden abilities and skills.

John and I have seen this first hand.

Marian High School helped our two older daughters find gifts within
themselves that were previously undiscovered. My daughters found their future paths, their talents, and their own individual flair. They found ways to serve others and feel fulfilled.

In a supportive, creative and Christ-centered environment, Marian girls mature into women guided by a moral compass. They discover within themselves a multitude of God given talents that are needed by their families, communities and a desperate world.

Supporting Marian High School is like funding an expedition to seek buried treasure...always ending with a great "find" that brings hope to the world.
